Dear Friend,
I am writing you to ask for your support of the Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties in our $4 million Capital Campaign to build a regional Kitchen Facility to support the elderly and disabled citizens of both counties.
This kitchen facility will initially provide nutritious meals to over 3,000 of your neighbors – for many, it will be the only “real” meal they get each day. The majority of these individuals are elderly citizens, averaging 85 years of age who live on an income of $12,000/year or less. The new kitchen facility, located in Midlothian, will allow Meals-on-Wheels to get the most out of their budget, and help even more people by significantly lowering transportation and production costs.
I, along with The Joe Barton Family Foundation, looked at several projects in the area, and chose to financially support Meals-on-Wheels. We believe their cause is addressing a growing need of the elderly in our community, and during this time of economic uncertainty its mission is more important than ever before.
Meals-on-Wheels is a wonderful organization that has a vision for serving the needs of the elderly and disabled citizens in our area. I have been truly impressed with the Board of Trustees, and their leadership team. The Board members have been very prudent and thoughtful in their decisions. They stretch each donation making sure your money does the most good. I think that is why they have been successful for over 30 years.
Please take a look at the enclosed material. If you are able to give at this time, please consider giving to the project. With your help, we can improve the quality of life for so many citizens, of all ages, who need a helping hand.
Sincerely,

Congressman Joe Barton,
Honorary Chairman of the "Kitchen Cabinet"
