Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties to Host Mayors For Meals Day on March 24, 2010
Meals-on-Wheels will be holding Mayors For Meals Day as a part of its March For Meals campaign. Local mayors and elected officials in Johnson and Ellis Counties will be participating in the event to show their support for the community’s seniors. Meals-on-Wheels’ Mayors For Meals Day event will be held Wednesday, March 24.
March For Meals is a national campaign, initiated by Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA), which seeks to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of the local community. Senior nutrition programs across the United States, like Meals-on-Wheels, promote March For Meals in their local communities through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives. Mayors For Meals Day is a component of March For Meals that utilizes the involvement of local Mayors and other local elected officials.
