Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties hosted “Mayors For Meals Day” as a part of its March For Meals campaign. Twenty-six local mayors and representatives showed their support for the community’s seniors by delivering on March 18.
Meals-on-Wheels’s “Mayors For Meals Day” event included the local mayors and representatives delivering meals in their communities. “We were excited that so many mayors participated in our event. We hope this helps raise awareness of senior hunger in our community” said Amy Jackson, director of development. “Most of our mayors have been involved with our program in the past, and the national “Mayors of Meals Day” is an excellent way to continue our relationship,” added Jackson. For some, this was their first time to deliver, and others have been delivering for several years.
