Golf Registration Begins for Meals-on-Wheels Golf Benefit

1, 2007 - Registration for the 20th Annual Meals-on-Wheels
Golf Benefit has begun. The event will be held on Thursday,
September 13, 2007 at Hidden Creek Golf Course
in Burleson. Like years passed, golfers are promptly signing up
for the morning and afternoon flights. Last year, the field was
full two weeks from the event.
“We encourage signing up early to make certain of your place,”
said Meals-on-Wheels director of development, Amy Jackson. “This
year we have tried to make registering easier, by having registration
available on our website,” she added. It can be found at www.servingthechildrenofyesterday.org.
There will be morning and afternoon shotgun starts at 8:00
AM and 1:30 PM, and will follow a four
player scramble format. The entry fee is $100 per golfer, or $400
per team, if pre-paid by August 31, 2007. After
this date, the fee will be $110 per golfer. Each player’s entry
fee includes green fee, ½ cart, a t-shirt, cold drinks and food
throughout the day — and chances at $5,000 in prizes!
Also, the Special Mulligan & Prize package is available at
a discount of $20 prior to the event. This will include two mulligans
and five chances to win sporting event tickets, airfare for two,
and other great prizes.
The community looks forward to the Golf Benefit every year, according
to Ike Vera, Golf Chairman. “We have a great day planned with prizes
and additional surprises,” said Vera. “We will again have lots of
our famous chicken sandwiches, cold beverages, and great giveaways
all day long,” he added, “but most importantly, all proceeds will
benefit Meals-on-Wheels.”
The Golf Benefit’s proceeds, raised from golfers and sponsorships,
will help Meals-on-Wheels provide over 100,000 meals for the elderly
and disabled residents throughout Johnson County.
