| Meals-on-Wheels Golf Benefit
Raises Record Amount!
This year’s Meals-on-Wheels Golf Benefit marked the 20th anniversary,
held on Thursday, September 14 at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Burleson.
“This year’s 20th Annual Golf Benefit was no different with excitement,
raising over $72,000!” Vinsen Faris said, with a sold out morning
and afternoon with 268 golfers playing. Prizes totaling $5,000 were
given away to the top three teams in two flights.
Top Flight, first place was Ken Geslin, Scott Walker, Blaze Walker,
and Fred Trainer; second place went to Scott Cox, Ed Randle, Kim
Randle, Rick Green of the Cleburne Times-Review; and third
place was Valley Innovative Services with Ben Culp, Mario Quiroz,
Rick Gilbert, and Rodney Kent. Bottom flight, first place winners
were the Star-Telegram team with Weldon Whiteman, David
DeCastro, Ricky Tripp, and Jack McDowell; second place was Mike
Crowe, Randy Brown, Gary Keller, Dingo O’Brien with KTFW radio;
and third was Paul Wethington, Art Brucks, Joe Davis, and Rex Russell
playing for the Burleson Chamber of Commerce. $500 cash prize was
given for the “closest-to-the-pin” winner in the morning, Kurt Logan
at 93”, and Tommy Halbert at 40 ¼” in the afternoon.
“On behalf of Meals-on-Wheels, we truly appreciate the long-time
support in making this event so successful,” added Faris.
“The event has definitely grown and only gotten better since
the beginning,” said Dewey James, past golf chairman, "and
we look forward to another 20 years of golfing fun!”
