17th Annual Golf Benefit—Another Success!

Meals-on-Wheels 17th Annual Golf Benefit held on September 18th was another great success! With a full field—morning and afternoon—golfers and volunteers enjoyed a fun-filled day of food and fun! Along with sponsors, 268 golfers, and over 50 volunteers, the event raised much needed monies to feed the homebound elderly and disabled persons in our community.

Top flight winners were the afternoon Liberty Ford team with Michael Shane, Michael Christopher, Tim Martin and Paul Denman. Times-Review team including Eli Strange, Tim Rosser, Matt Rosser, and Wes Parnell; and a MAGO Construction team with Dean Vette, Art Brucks, Chuck Tramitizi, and Tom Westberg; bottom flight winners were the Dr. Pepper team with Bob Boswell, Andrew Foertsch, Tony McCurdy, and Brandon Newton; First Financial Bank team with Derek Schmidt, Rick Coleman, Steve Graeve, and Kurt Logan; and KTFW Radio team including Mike Crow, Ward Whites, Marlee Padgett, and Gary Keller.

In addition, the morning “Closest-to-the-Pin” winners were Steve Graeves and Steve Ricks, tying at 10’6”. The afternoon winner was Jim Cook with 7’7”! Women’s Long Drive was taken by Meredith Mizel and Men’s Long Drive by Jason Jones. The cash prizes given away totaled $6,000! In addition, this year, there were several other giveaways from participating in the day’s “chance” holes with prizes including Texas Rangers tickets, local restaurant gift certificates, and

Mike Lehrmann, Golf Benefit chairperson, credited the day’s success to everyone that participated, supported, and helped put the event together. “Everyone came together in support of Meals-on-Wheels, and that is what this event is all about!”

Local media, KTFW 92.1 FM /1460 AM, Cleburne Times-Review, and the Johnson County Line promoted the event prior and during the big day, which helped in our success of the event. This year, the Cleburne Quilters Guild kicked off their annual raffle at the Benefit. This year’s proceeds from raffle sales will benefit Meals-on-Wheels.

A special thanks goes to the Cleburne Lions Club who, once again, grilled delicious chicken sandwiches all day long. “We enjoy being out there, and we look forward to this event every year, especially knowing that it is in support of a great cause,” said Lion David Price.
