| Meals-on-Wheels' 21st Annual Golf Benefit—Another Great Year!
The 21st Annual Meals-on-Wheels Golf Benefit was held on Thursday, September 11 at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Burleson. It was an overwhelming success, raising over $72,000! Along with sponsors, 264 golfers, and over 50 volunteers, the event raised much needed monies to feed the homebound elderly and disabled persons in our community.
"The money raised will help feed lots of people in our community," said Ike Vera, Golf Chairman. "The support shown, from everyone involved was truly incredible!" Vera added.
With a full field — morning and afternoon — golfers and volunteers enjoyed a fun-filled day of food and fun! $5,000 in prizes were given away to the winning teams, and over $12,000 in raffle prizes were drawn at the event!
Top Flight, first place was Randy Pitcock, Keith Winnett, Kevin Winnett, and George Marshall of Accents of Cleburne; second place went to the Burleson of Wal-Mart team; and third place was Community Bank with Tim Southerland, Dusty Rumfield, Jason Williams, and Kyron Trussell. Bottom flight, first place winners were the Top Producers team with Howard & Sharon Wright, Pam Tennyson, and Delmer West; second place was Perry Ginn, Kurt Logan, Rusty Gilliam and Danny Slattery with American National Bank; and third was Tim Godsey, Steve Pennock, Mark Bransom and Eddie Vanzandt playing for the Grandview Bank. $500 cash prize was given for the "closest-to-the-pin" winner in the morning, Lance Rosser at 8", and Mike Phillips at 72" in the afternoon.
