Meals-on-Wheels Offers Elderly Gift Programs for the Holidays

Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties is teaming up with the Salvation Army of Johnson County and Smith Chrysler Dodge of Waxahachie in providing for the elderly. Both organizations are offering a holiday gift program to provide clothing and other needs to the homebound elderly and disabled of Johnson & Ellis Counties.

"This year in conjunction with Meals-on-Wheels, we will provide a tree for our forgotten elderly persons in our county," says Mindie McGowan, Salvation Army Assistant Director. "People really do care about the needy in our community. I want to send out a special message of thanks to each and every person who makes this possible."

The trees for the Johnson County elderly will be at Royce’s Pharmacy located at 502 N. Main, Cleburne, and Susannah’s Restaurant located at 1514 N. Henderson in Cleburne, beginning Friday, November 25 to Friday, December 16.

In Ellis County, the gift tree will be at the Smith dealership located at 2405 I-35 at US287 Bypass (exit 403) in Waxahachie beginning Wednesday, December 1 to Saturday, December 17. Residents are invited to participate in this opportunity to give back to those in their community.

"This is a great way for people in the community to get personally involved at Christmas time," says Debbie Debbie McCary, public relations officer of Smith Chrysler Dodge. "There is nothing that blesses us more than lifting a child's heart, or remembering our ‘children of yesterday.’
