Meals-on-Wheels could not operate one day without the help of its volunteers. Over 650 caring volunteers deliver our meals Monday through Friday. They not only deliver nutritious meals, they also help to ensure the safety of our clients.

Recently, a volunteer found a client who had fallen and another volunteer discovered a gas leak in a recipient's kitchen. Help was called immediately. In both cases, the volunteers were able to prevent potentially dangerous situations. Daily contact is as important as the meals we serve.

A meal route takes approximately 45 minutes to deliver with convenient pick-up sites located throughout each county, in each community. Pick-up sites throughout Johnson County include Alvarado, Burleson, Cleburne, Grandview, Godley, Joshua, Keene, Lillian, Rio Vista and Venus; and in Ellis County include Bardwell, Ennis, Ferris, Italy, Maypearl, Midlothian, Milford, Palmer, Red Oak, and Waxahachie. Volunteers can also help in our offices by assisting as pick-up site volunteers and other clerical duties.

Our diverse volunteers include professionals, retirees, civic club members, church groups, youth groups, and corporate volunteers. Many volunteer with spouses, friends, or young children to teach them the importance of volunteerism and helping one another.
